LOL! Quite accurate! I got one for my parents several months ago! It is undoubtedly one of the most used things I have ever gifted. Yes, there was a learning curve and some frustration!

I've seen it, seems unnecessary to me, what does it do that cannot be done easily by me. news on tv and computer, music , tv and computer and RADIO, weather, add windows, really seems like a waste to me, and annoying to those not voice controlling it.

With my hearing I can't understand a word it says. But all it is, is just another gadget to spend your money on and entertain you until you get tired of it.

Kind of a sad response when you obviously know nothing about its capabilities and usage and enjoyment by people who may be physically impaired.

If you contract ALS, as my wife has, you will think differently. It is a godsend.

I most love the shopping list feature.

It is one of those things that non-users are doomed to stupidity about.

It is easy to hook up a high quality speaker using bluetooth. You can easily control volume by telling her to increase it or adjust to a numbered volume.

If you lose mobility you’ll have a different opinion. You can even call 911 with it...completely hands free.

The Dot is no where near the quality of the Echo and the new Echo is even better with no need for additional speakers, I started my folks with the Dot and they loved it, so I got a new Echo on my last trip for me and one for them. Being able to play almost any record they can think of, news, weather anywhere, favorite radio stations, make a shopping list, reminders/alarms...all with a voice command is invaluable to those confined to a chair.

My parents are not exactly high tech minded and would have wanted no part of this so called useless toy, so I did not ask them...try taking it away!

I might need to get an Echo too. So far have three dots.

My Sony bluetooth speakers manage to keep disconnecting. Echo would avoid that frustration.

The Bose speaker stays stuck but is more expensive than an Echo.

I was okay with the Echo, but the new one is even better.

I can see the value for the physically impaired, however, the only examples I've seen personally so far are kids playing and lazy adults , I suppose it's like everything else, very good some and a toy for others.
