I purchased the Panasonic Lumix ZS100 and use it as a travel camera. It has a 1" sensor and has less noise at higher ISO settings compared to the ZS70 which has a smaller sensor. The ZS100 has a smaller zoom range than the ZS70 but is still very usable for travel. Its zoom range is 25 - 250mm (35mm equivalent). Take a look at some of the reviews. I think you will be impressed.

Lumix ZS70 has 30x zoom but the reason to buy is VIEWFINDER. I can't see subject on screen in bright sunlight. Also for composing, framing moving subject. Awesome lens.

The one thing you did not mention in your initial inquiry is whether your hubby wants the point and shoot to fit into his shirt pocket?? Is that a requirement?
