I have seen the posts of winter scenes, brrrrrrr, glad I moved back to the west coast. So from Palm Springs, high of 81 today, I offer a little bit of warm comfort for the folks in the deep freeze. I know I am a Dirty Rat B*****d

Too much? Always just enough to get me to the pool.

Fires are in the hill country where all the brush and chaparral is.
Earthquake? Those are happening all over the continent.

We’re good here. Even when it shakes, it’s not all that bad. Just happens that this is where a boatload of Canadians come every winter. They seem cool with it.

My wife and I are talking about snow birding in Palm Springs next winter. I'll show her your post and that should convince her. :)

There are a lot of people here from the northwest. Tell her the food here is fabulous, it’s warm here most days, and quite a few of the strangers you meet become friends for life. There are vacation rental agencies that can help you through the process.

We were down there last summer for a couple of weeks. Loved it! Stayed at our timeshare. You are correct... the food IS fabulous. There's just a lot about it we liked. If it wasn't for that all of our kids and

grand-kids live nearby we might have moved there. Instead we built our dream/retirement home here in the NW. Now we just do extended vacations. But winter in the sun sounds like something I could get

used to. We have gone on line looking at different properties. Not sure what area we want to be in? Maybe we will buy Bob Hope's house. lol Or did I here it has been sold?

13 million, wow. We looked through the gates when we were there. That's the closest we will ever get to a place like that. I showed my wife your

post. She is a California girl born and raised in Sunnyvale not far from San Jose. She noticed the Bougainvillea immediately. Brought back

memories. Good job. We tried growing it here but with little success.

It makes me happy that I could put some sunshine in someone’s day.

It is more of a desert plant. It thrives in the 120 degree summer heat. Here is a photo (iphone) of the thermometer at the pool in June of 2016. Durn thing was pegged out. The temperature was actually 123. Not pleasant outside at all. But then, For summers we have Huntington Beach.

That is some serious heat. I have family that lives in Arizona. We (wife and I) visited them the summer before last. When we got off the plane is was like walking into a oven. It was 116 degrees and climbing. I

remember my sister telling me in the late evening "oh it's starting to cool down". It was 100 at midnight. No thank you. I will take 70's and 80's in the winter instead. FYI, it is 37 here today. :)

Take care
