Sony LCD screen delaminating.
First I apologize for the poor quality of the attached pictures. This is my Sony RX100 which was pristine until the LCD started getting these distortions around the perimeter of the display. It happened quickly over a day or two. There are no scratches and it cannot be cleaned off. After searching around on the internet I found that this is not uncommon for Sony displays for many models of their cameras from lower end to the most expensive. The factory applies a "protector" and it can start to delaminate. It doesn't effect the operation but it looks horrible. I have read that it can be removed but is not an easy task to accomplish. Lining up a new one is something I don't look forward to.
I haven't seen this mentioned here so I thought I would put this out as a word of warning.

Strange thing is my local camera shop which has a good rep said they never saw this before and all they could is send it to Sony but it was probably cost prohibitive. I will do the repair but am disappointed in Sony for continuing to produce a product with a potential built in problem.
I have owned Sony cameras from the time they took over Minolta. I have never seen this problem. And I have owned them all from a55 to the a99ll. If it was under warranty, I would send it back. Otherwise, if it doesn't affect anything, then live with it.

Interesting... I've owned Sony cameras since the Mavica and have never seen this problem. Might be a defective batch? You didn't leave the camera sitting in the sun, did you?

This happened to my A57 and I fixed it but can't remember how. Maybe apple cider vinegar because I thought it was a fungus but not certain.

I read somewhere that there is an ideal product for protecting the screen. Gaffer's tape, I believe they call it.
