An Ebay Success Story

For years, I was suspicious of Ebay because everything I read said the merchandise, especially camera equipment, was "grey" and would not be serviced by the manufacturer. Last Friday I purchased a Canon 80D, new from an Ebay seller. I received the camera the next day along with a one year warranty by Canon. It is an import model as a label on the package states. Today I received a wide angle lens from another Ebay seller. Much to my surprise, a warranty card included as well as a year's warranty by Canon. So, my experience with Ebay has all been positive. Happy New Year everyone!
Is Canon USA going to honor the gray market warranty? I've heard of Canon accepting as well as rejecting international warranties.

Its not a "grey market" warranty. It is the Canon CarePak warranty. I received an email from Canon with a certificate number. The lens I purchased is a USA model. I was surprised because it was cheaper than a refurbished model. My intention of writing this post is to show that not everything on sale on Ebay is a "grey" or import model.
In speaking with Canon, my understanding is that they will honor any camera that has a U.S. name on the camera. Same models sold out of the country are given different names.

I am a regular seller and buyer on ebay with over 900 transactions. Not a bad one yet. Glad you are pleased.
I have been sold de-centered lenses, and grays. IF you are not satisfied, be polite, document (send copy to yourself), and ask for a refund. Ship it back in the same shape you got it. If you get a crushed box, photograph it before opening, and before returning it.
You can say "no returns" all you want, but they have to take it back for any legitimate reason. Ebay requires this. That is why it is harder than ever to be a seller without getting punched once in a while from a problem buyer. Ebay almost always finds disputes in favor of the buyer- it is a buyers market.

I've had about 500 good experiences on ebay - no bad ones.
I was an EBay Power Seller for years, we used them to keep our numbers up and often drop shipped from the supplier,
Most high number seller are there to do their best, buyers with less than 10 are often hibby type and blame the product,
For the most part it is a great way to buy, but look for a rated seller, and stay away from the low number sellers,,
Ebay really protects the buyer,,,
I have had over 600 transaction on ebay and have only had 3 bad ones but they were always made right by ebay or paypal. My biggest problem is getting people to leave feedback.
Sometimes you have to ask,
I would send them an email, and thank them for the purchase and ask for the feedback.
I am also quilty of not posting feedback, and have been ask, once ask. I make sure it is done.

I purchased a lens that had moisture inside the lens; I sent a picture to the seller - he apologized, and sent refund + return shipping.
I have been buying on eBay for many years. If there was ever a problem, eBay took care of it.
I don't know what you heard, but I and everyone that I know buys, and will continue to buy from eBay.
It helps if you know what you are buying so that you don't get the wrong item.
I replaced a satellite receiver 3 times for a buyer who said they did not work.
I called him, and discovered he was hooking them up to a disconnected cable connection.
We bent over backwards as an Ebay seller,
The guy did not understand what he was buying, I received them as trade in’s for free, and guaranteed them to work...
Toocat brought back a fond memory,
I referred him to a local dealer, and he closed the sale for a DISH and the install.
