With the high temperatures around here in the teens, I've been supplementing our birdfeeder with food on the ground intended for the squirrels. Imagine my surprise when I looked out the den window this morning and saw this sight. Deer isn't exactly Moose {and the squirrel was willing to get only so close}, but even so.

Really a nice shot. Had to laugh, it reminded me of last winter when I did the exact same thing. The only problem was once the grain was gone, the deer ate all the limbs off of my wife's nature garden & shrubs.

The deer are after the corn in the bird seed mix.
If it stays this cold for much longer, you might consider getting a bag of cracked corn for the deer from your local feed and grain store. Not the chicken food, which is much finer ground.

Moose actually are North America's largest deer! Great shot of both "Rocky" and "Bullwinkle"!
