Are you out of your ever-self-loving mind, you insignificant pissemyre ? I won’t go into a lot of background; suffice it to say that the member for whom you have so little regard is a professional (in the true sense of the word), a talented photographer, a frequent group leader (highly rated and accordingly priced), a highly regarded expert on the massive national park near which he lives) and the owner of a successful camera shop. He has been, at least in the short time I’ve been a member, one of the gurus to whom we have turned for information on new and used gear, and on advice regarding a plethora of subjects. He is, in short, one of the most knowledgeable members of this forum. Now, if you are unable to show him a modicum of the respect he has to honestly earned over the years, I suggest you fold your opinions - and your membership - five ways and put it where the moon don’t shine!

I'll take your word for it. Obviously, Tamron has different registration rules for you than they do for me. Below is a copy and paste of Tamron's registration requirements. Note No. 2.

Online Registration is Easy!

1. Complete the required information

This warranty registration and survey are not related to rebate redemption. For rebate redemption, please follow the instructions on your rebate form.

2. Submit copy of valid proof of purchase

You should always retain your original proof of purchase for your records. You must present your dated proof of purchase that includes model number, serial number and price from an authorized Tamron USA retailer if you are in need of repair service and have not previously submitted a copy of the proof of purchase. It is recommended that you also retain the product box in the event your lens needs to be serviced.

3. Print a copy of Tamron's Six-Year Limited USA Warranty

Retain a copy for your records by clicking here.

I'm not disputing that one should not save the sales slip just that it was not asked for or required for on-line registration. Perhaps your policy requirements are old. Things change. Have you actually registered a Tamron lens recently?

Here is a copy of the on-line registration form that I used. No mention of sales slip. I did click "Internet Purchase" They sent emails thanking me for registering the lenses along with process numbers. Suspect they will be required for warranty service.

I speaking from actual experience and not from what I read or heard.

Forgot to post this earlier.

Also just registered my D850 and no sales receipt was required. I can't remember being asked for a purchase receipt for any product registration. I must be blessed and have a registration angel smoothing the way.

I have a theory on why the discrepancy which may explain the difference, any way its logical.

Manufacturers track their shipments to major retailer by serial number. If the serial number of the item matches their records its accepted on that bases, otherwise proof is needed.

Just because a clerk won't accept the registration should not be the end of the matter. First, read http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/25/technology/do-you-really-need-that-warranty-card.html to get an outline of the facts. Then Google if your state's law says the mfr. can't require you to register. Second, find the address for Tamron USA and WRITE to the Chief Exec. Off. at that address with copies of the letter outlining the problem to the FTC consumer affairs office in Washington and to your state's atty. gen. You may wish to mention your comment on this bulletin board and the number of replies. Mail the letter and the copies.

Quit calling customer service. Those people have -0- discretion. You'll only raise your blood pressure. Write letters and start at the top. Remember what Lucy told Linus, "Squeaky wheel gets the grease."

AGs office won’t even give this a cursury look. Much bigger problems than going to bat for someone who doesn’t want to follow Tamron’s rules for registration.
