Just recieved this in an e-mail and thought I would share it with anyone interested. The devastation is horrible. Put yourself in their position and realize they have lost probably every momento of their lives they had. 80 pics of the inferno. If this doesn't link up right, copy and paste into your browser.

I was a career firefighter for nearly 30 years. I cannot imagine this kind of destruction and heart ache.

Here is a time lapse video of the fire in Waldo Canyon in Colorado. Shot by a student from his back deck.

It make you think about fire in a different way.

We've had a few days of heavy rain and hopefully all has been put out now.
The flash flooding caused by these storms are now washing debris down on the roadways. So its going to be touch and go for a while.
Hopefully, the displaced people can start to make heads and tails out of their losses and start to rebuild their lives.
My heart goes out to them.

I lived there for close to 25 years and our house would of been in the mandatory evac zone. On one hand if there's a wall of flame being pushed by 60+ mph winds, there's not much you could of done to save your house. OTOH, CSFD had, since the early 90's, been telling people to get the scrub oak away from their houses and decks, and get the cedar shingles off their roofs. They even went so far as to create maps of what areas were defensible and what weren't. Instead of fixing, most people just got pissed off at the FD. I was listening to a scanner site, and they were triaging the houses. If your house was surrounded be nice volatile brush, well sorry. In the clear or maybe a little? they try and defend it.
