Using a Canon 450D, set to Raw & Jpeg. Canon's own software used on PC but I cannot see any Raw files when transferred to "Digital Photo Professional" - Canon's software. I have tried using Raw only files but still the files come as Jpeg's. This has been done in various Manual Modes but I always get the same result.
Any ideas as what to do???

Get a Nikon.

Is it possible the software is set to automatically convert the raw files to JPEGs?

Open the folder you are storing your photos with Windows Explorer. Do you see files with the .CR2 extension?

Snowbear. First suggestion is a big NO
Second point: I followed the Canon software upload instructions and it should show the two formats of each file but it doesn't!
Thanks for the (Latter) suggestion.

Have tried that, even doing a *.CR2 search of the PC doesn't show any such files.
This is really frustrating as I want to learn how to use RAW data. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is where a card reader is REAL handy, you can get one for like $5 if you look around, you can avoid the horrors that are the Canon software that way...

I normally use a card reader to transfer over to the PC. The other day I tried using the USB cable that came with the camera, but still no joy.

So if you have a card reader have a look through the folders on the card and see if the files are there

I would double check the camera settings. Also you might try putting it in raw only mode and banging off a couple frames and see if they appear

I have done that, also tried a different card.
Even when I select "Raw only" when I check the card it is saved as a jpeg?

Try using Windows Explorer to navigate through the card, rather than the download folder. You should be able to see the card as a mounted disk. There may be several folders, so you'll have to wander around a bit. As already noted, you'll be looking for .CR2 files. If they're not there, you should contact Canon, because the problem is in the camera. If they are there, you can download them. CHeck Canon's website for firmware upgrades for your camera. I suspect repairing the camera could cost more than it's worth, and it may be time for a new camera body. One other possibility would be to do a reset to manufacturing defaults to see if that resolves the problem.

Good luck.
