To anyone who has used zenfolio.com: What is your experience? Price too high, just right , NOT ENOUGH? What level ? Anything else to comment on.

I had no sales. FineArtAmerica has done better for me.

I use them at a basic level for product delivery. Customers have already paid so I’m not worried about sales. I’ve never thought of them as promoters of anything but rather a hosting provider. Price is good as I only pay something like $50 a year, I think I’m locked in at an old price though. I sometimes think their interface is a bit clunky.

I have 2 sites from Zenfolio. I agree that it is not a site that promotes photos, but it is a place to showcase my images. When I do an event, I can post the images there. Sometimes I do sell, sometimes I have clients email me which image they want and I do the printing. I do find the printing from zenfolio to be costly, and I would only get a small percentage.
my two sites.

Depends on your goal. As others say, Zen is not the best for sales, but I do like it for displaying my photos. I have a gallery there and another on Fine Art America. I find Zen to be easier to use for uploading and managing photos, and I also like the fact that they have a blog section. I often like to write little blurbs and I miss that on Fine Art America. But FAA does get lots more views. Zen does have a cost - I think I pay about $100 a year, maybe a little more.

I have used Zen for a couple of years. It all depends what you want to use it for. Selling is not really the problem with Zen. I find it very easy to sell. The issue I think most have is attracting an audience. If you are shooting clients and want a place for them to view and then purchase the images it works great. However if you are just posting images and hoping to attract an audience it does not work as well, 500 or AA are better because people are more likely to browse those sites. You have the benefit of other photographers work attracting viewers.

Thank you for your comment. What did you refer to with 500?

I have been a faithful and very satisfied customer of SmugMug. IMO, everything considered, no other service comes close.
