Deals All Year - Part 2

I purchased a Canon 80D online Friday from this Ebay dealer. I was aware that the camera was an an "import" model. I received the lens less than 24 hours later. The camera was absolutely brand new and had a disclaimer about it being a import model. I registered the camera with Canon. This morning I received an email from Canon welcoming me to their CarePak Plus program. I was not expecting this. This protection covers anything even dropping the camera. It doesn't expire until January 2019. I have to say that I am very pleased with Deals All Year and will use them again.

Consider yourself a very lucky person. Not all those buying gray market are that lucky.
Happy New Year.

It wasn't gray market or it was a phony serial. Let's get the terminology straight. Gray market applies to devices built by the real manufacturer that are intended for foreign sale. The warranty of non-gray market items is handled, in this case, by Canon USA, which has received a portion of the sale price. In the case of gray market items, that US warranty has not been purchased. If the serial is a proper USA serial but the camera not built by Canon USA, then it is a knock-off, a fake, and not gray market. In this case, Congratulations. I hope that it is a real Canon USA camera and that you never send it in for repairs and have it sent back with the note saying it was not made by Canon.

There is absolutely no reason to believe that this is not a authentic Canon camera.
