Heaven knows I am not a photo nor a camera genius. Where would you rate a Nikon 60? I can't go out a buy a new camera when I want and need to use what I have. is it an okay camera or not? Linda

One point higher than a Nikon 59. If you are talking about a D60 it is a 10mp camera that is almost 10 years old. Other than that it takes decent photos.

If you are talking about the d60, it is a wonderful camera. I have the d40x, which the d60 replaced. I still use it to this day, it has the has the same sensor as the d60. Some of my favorite photographs I have taken were shot with the d60 or d40x, even as large as 16x20. I honestly love the d40x/d60 and think you will as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

The best camera is the one you have with you. The d60 is definitely a good camera.

If it took good photos before, it will still take good photos now.

I have a D60 along with my P900. The D60 has 10mp but it has served me well and still does.

It's OK to use. Until you yourself think it's not good enough for you.

This hogger asks a question and states he’s in no position to just go out and but a new camera.
You cavalierly tell him to spend $1000 or so on a 7200.
Don’t you have better things to do than make silly suggestions?

My first dslr was a D50, purchased in 2006, a notch below your D60. I still have it as a backup. It has about 25% of the resolution as modern dslr bodies.
However, it can't be beat for learning dslr photo basics. Unless you plan on making large prints, stick with your D60. When you get to the point of wanting to try
low light or HDR photography, consider a slight upgrade. There are numerous Nikon bodies on the used market. Also retail prices drop for cameras 5-6
years old. If your budget allows, you might consider a pricier lens. Good luck!

Thank you all for your positive replies. The camera seems to take beautiful photos regardless of its owner. As I said in a previous post, I need to set down with the manual and learn what it is telling me. Thanks again! Linda

Why stop there, tell her to get a D850 or a D5; she'll be much more blown away.

The D60 is a nice little camera. I got one in 07 or 08, it think it was. It worked just fine and took great pictures. I've since moved on, but my youngest daughter is using the D60 now and she is taking great pictures with it.

The Nikon D60 is a GREAT camera and if you are getting good results with it, there is no reason to covet something else. Technology improves and camera manufacturers bring out new models, but that does not mean that the previous models are obsolete and not useable. When you buy quality (like Nikon) you should be able to use it for a very long time.

With all due respect, you tell us. Is it an okay camera or do you find it lacking for what you want to photograph? If it works as it is supposed to do and takes good photos for you then I would say it is a good camera. If not then you may want to start saving for a new Nikon.
