Canon 400mm 5.6L prime
Hello and Happy New Year to everyone on the forum.
I must have been nice this year because Santa, aka my wonderful wife, got me a new 100-400m F4.5-5.6 II for Christmas.
I love my 400mm prime but no I won't be using it and don't want it to be just sitting in a box. I bought it new in May 2015 for $1275.00.
It comes with the camo Lenscoat, storage pouch, original box and endcaps.
This is a very well taken care of lens and is very sharp.
You can see some of my pics at

I'm asking $800 shipped/insured. Money order or check (will ship when the check clears)
Thank you
Bob
You have done well, my friend!! Nice lens, to be sure, and spectacular images as well. I'd love that lens, but cash eludes me
at this time. Actually that's not quite true...I have the money, but it's "earmarked" for elsewhere. You know the game.
V-man,
Thank you, I learn something new each day I'm out taking pictures. The 400mm prime is an awesome lens. I just hate to see it not being used. Someone will be very happy with this lens.
Bob
Well admittedly I have one of its baby brothers....the 70-200 f4L attached to my EOS 1DS MkII digital. Not quite up to the challenge for birding,
although I do use it in my backyard for close-ups of small locals and song-birds that I lure to my feeders. Frankly, I'd be better served with the 100-400.
Later, perhaps.
And yes, the new owner of it will be quite content. Best wishes for continued happy shooting!

Wow !! excellent images on your Flickr site. I have a Nikon but wish I had a Canon. This is a great buy for someone

Beautiful images .... loved your gallery.
I use a 70-200 f/4 IS as that is my longest lens (wedding photographer) when out birding but I need to crop heavily. Works great for the lured hummingbirds in my yard. Would love this lens but who has money after Christmas :(
Great photos, thanks for sharing. Love those Owls! Canon seems to have so many well made single focal length lenses, unlike other manufacturers.
This is no doubt one of those lenses. Bright light does help at f5.6...
Price dropped to $750 shipped and insured to your door.
Thanks for looking.

Oh my gosh....I'm going thru the furniture looking for extra loose coins.
Someone please buy Bob's lens, before I have an anxiety attack. What a
great deal that is, Bob.
Thanks V-man,
I truly just want someone to get a great deal and use this lens that has brought me so much enjoyment.

Well, you're so welcome Bob. Admittedly, that is one of my dream lenses...(you know, the kind we lay awake at night
thinking about?) I do some bird photography, but with my 70-200f4L lens, I need to be within 10 feet to catch small birds. I live quite close
to areas which are home to eagles, ospreys and owls...and I'd love to be able to capture some images of them. I imagine they are
plentiful where you live too. I'll check back with you...
Bob,
Is your lens still for sale? I'm from Pierre, SD and getting back to photography after a lapse. Looking for a new body and a new lens, and your ad caught my eye. I have a Very old Canon Eos 7d, looking to upgrade and get back into a variety of topics including high school athletics: basketball, gymnastics, and pole vaulting. Lots of landscape and wildlife shots around here too as we live right on the river. Enjoyed viewing your gallery of wildlife pics!! Please let me know when you can. Thanks, Bonnie
Hi neighbor, well close enough! :)
I'd love to live next to the river, I drive down to Yankton once in awhile and the photo opportunities seem endless.
Yes, the lens is still for sale. I have used it on a Canon 70D and a 7D MKii and it takes wonderful pictures.
I was going to drop the price to $700 in a few weeks and then put it away if it didn't sell.
I will sell it to you for $700 shipped.
Let me know what you think.
Have a great weekend.

Bob,
Sorry I haven't replied back sooner. I am guessing you are in the snow mess, we squeaked by with no snow! My son is at USD and got clobbered with snow. My other son is trying to convince me of buying him a new car, so have been busy with that. I am trying to decide what body I want to purchase. Do you have any suggestions for me? I am looking at all the variations of the 6d, 7d, 80d. I would like the ability to take action shots, but still be able to take video and a variety of other situations. I will let you know ASAP. Thanks for your patience!
Bonnie
Bonnie,
No problem.....yes we got about 3-4 inches here in Sioux Falls but less than 20 miles East and South they got hammered. Spring is right around the corner, think positive right?
Ah yes, kids and cars....I remember doing that with my 2 kids. They are 30 and 35 now but it seems like yesterday. I gave them both the same deal, I'd match whatever they saved for a car. My son saved I think about 38.00 dollars lol, my daughter on the other hand was pretty frugal with birthday and babysitting money. She got a much nicer car :)
As far as which camera, there are some really good deals on the 70D since the 80D has come out. A lot of people buy the 70D because of it's great video qualities.
I'd also check craigslist, just be careful about meeting people.
I'm in no hurry, make sure you get the camera body you want.
Have a great day and good luck car hunting.
