I have an aftermarket (Promaster) battery for my Canon 7D. It died. I went to order a new Canon battery to read that it's been discontinued?!?!? I tried to search it out on Canons site but wasn't really lucky. They are there to order - at $100 a piece. Anyone know anything? Thanks!!!

the LP-E6 battery is very common-used in a plethora of Canon models. Wasabi and Vivitar brand aftermarket batteries perform well, and can be bought for $20-30ea.

The LP-E6N is listed as compatible with the original 7D model on the Canon website.

Yes, the LP-E6N is just an updated version of the LP-E6 and fits many Canon cameras. I recently got a refurbished EOS 80D, and found these on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BBWHRK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So far they are performing very well, and are excellent value. Ironically the Canon supplied battery was faulty, but once I had diagnosed the problem Canon just shipped me a new one.

I have a Canon 7D, 6D, and a 5D Mark 4 and all of the batteries will work interchangeably.

Looks good on Amazon. Now kicking myself for purchasing extra OEM batteries at almost triple the cost. Thanks for the recommendation.

Been using Wasabi batteries in my Canon DSLR's for years and have never had a problem. My 7DII takes LP-E6 or LP-E6N batteries and purchased them on Amazon. Like Wasabi batteries as I have never had a problem with them, guess I have become brand loyal!!!
