This warning is probably not needed by most sellers, but it many help someone who is inexperienced.
I recently posted a camera on Craigslist. I was surprised at the number of offers way OVER asking price if I would ship the camera somewhere. Obviously a scam!
Also, do not give your address. Meet at a safe location, such as a busy restaurant. Better still, ask your police station if they will let you use their facility.
Have a safe New Years holiday.

Thanks for that. I haven't even looked at Craig's List. I like ebay.
Yes , I have heard where people have been robbed or shot doing business with people on craigslist . What a sick world we live in . Good luck with your sale

Set up a PayPal account. When the money is received and you have access to the funds sent it out.

Who would ship a camera without receiving payment in good funds first.
That is a common practice with Craigslist even when you post cash or PayPal they still try to scam you best is PayPal or cash.
After an experience a friend’s son had (he was shot and killed over a Craig’s List iPad sale/robbery scam) I no longer even consider thinking about looking at Craig’s List.

The best and safest location to sell something expensive is inside your own bank where you deposit the cash before you leave and you and buyer have both been video recorded.
Wow!
I've never had any problem on Craiglist, buying or selling. I must live in an isolated area (thank God and knocking on wood {my nogging}).
I have sold many items on craigslist as well as other sites. Like with most things these day you must use common sense and caution. Never agree to a transaction where you are offered more money if you would ship to someone overseas. The red flag goes up and SCAM is heard throughout the land. A local Starbucks is a good meeting place to exchange goods for cash. The best way is probably through PayPal. Only when the funds have been transferred and are in you bank, do you conclude the deal and ship out the merchandise. If you are buying something, set up your own PayPal account and check that the person you are buying from has excellent references with 100% positive feedback from several sites such as UHH, fredmiranda.com, eBay, Mu-43, DPR, etc. Try not to leave anything to chance, ask a lot of questions. There are many good deals out there. Be safe and cautious and hopefully you will enjoy your new toys for 2018. To all my fellow Hoggers, Have a Healthy and Happy New Year, stay warm if you live in freezing climates and above all stay safe.
All the best,
Mitch

Yes, I have heard of people being shot and robbed too, and they were just walking down the street in the hood, had NOTHING to do with craig's list.
Paranoia can be crippling!!!
I ONLY buy from craig's list, NEVER had a problem!!!
Life happens!!! LoL

Paypal is not that good charge you too much, and you not have access to your money for long time, also they asking you to ship the merchandise before you have access to the money and the scammers use that to have the money back and kept your merchandise too.
PayPal sends money fast. It takes, one day to transfer funds to your bank. Their fee is 3% for regular transactions.
It's eBay where you can wait a long time to get your money.
There is also a scam now to get your cell phone number and email address. They compile lists of them and cell them. This happened to a friend and the calls that resulted were endless. Don't send your phone number- insist on communicating through the Craig's List email service only. Come on-s like "I tried your email at Craig's list and its not working! Please send a phone number" etc., are a dead giveaway. Lots of the scams are from offshore US and Eastern Europe.
Be very careful on C List...
