Headed for Saudi Arabia

My wife and I were running errands today when we drove past the local railroad yard. Parked there was a whole string of locomotives painted as I had never seen before, so despite the roughly 13 degree Fahrenheit temperature, I pulled over on the shoulder and took this picture; later I did some Internet research, and if I understand the article correctly

this particular locomotive {currently EMDX3008} is heading for Saudi Arabia.

note: When the article above was written, the locomotive was located in London, Ontario. I have no idea why they are in Indiana now - no me the shortest path to Saudi Arabia would be ship out of Quebec City - but I'm glad they brought it around so I could see it.

Now that you mention it, I don't know which port(s) have the necessary crane capacity - I suppose that might be why the locomotives are here, going by rail to some port, perhaps a shipyard, with that capacity.

Thank you. Yes, if Norfolk has special equipment to load locomotives for export, that would explain why they are passing through here.
