Questions for all of you....
I noticed that many folks post panoramas on the site.
Should we invite them to join them?
Should I list the panoramas posted in the PL thread?
What do you think?

Doesn't one have to subscribed to this forum to post pano pics here?
Ron, I'm not sure what the intent is. If they post the pano in the Photo Gallery, I wouldn't attempt to do anything to it, except, maybe, cross-reference it with the OP's permission of course. Many people, myself included, post for the enjoyment of the members. The pano section is specialized and not visited nearly as often as the photo gallery. I view the panos section as a place to get help with technique, ideas or troubleshooting. An invite to the OP, I'm sure, would always be appreciated.
I'm relatively new to the site and still feeling my way around. But, my understanding was that you needed to subscribe to have topics in the pano section show up in your daily blog. Without doing that you have to intentionally go to 'All Sections' at the bottom of the page to get to the pano section.
Just my thoughts

That is what I mean by listing. I do not intent nor suggest to do anything else. I also have to do it with their permission.
If I have not started to do it is because I also need the feedback from this section members before I even start to see if there is an opposition to what I am considering. Same as I waited for a short feedback when starting the panorama listing in question.
Same as I had opened the 'section guide lines' for discussion. I need to close and clean that thread come to think of it, the consultation period is over.

Ron, I think it would be a great idea to invite people who are making panoramas to join! How about keeping it simple, and send each of them a PM asking if they would like to join and share their images and knowledge on the thread. A request to publish a specific image would also be appropriate, as it would save them the trouble of posting it again. This way, you have covered all topics at once!

SalvageDiver has it right. Many folks do not want to be stuck onto a small section. Inviting them to post here creates a situation that they may not want (limited audience). At the same time they can join w/o posting their panoramas here to get information. Knowing that they can be listed in a specialized section may create more image posts for those that are hesitant - even if in the gallery.

Why do you think people would be "stuck"? They are free to move between threads as they wish, unless there is some rule that your images cannot be posted in more than one. And the more members, the larger the audience! I notice that you use the word "listed" - is this referring to some arrangement I don't know about?

Possibly... This section has a list all the panoramas published here by location (I need to update it soon)

Ron, How about inviting them to 'also' post their images here? Or i s duplicate posting against the rules of the web site?
In my opinion, the Panorama Section is going to be one of the more successful sections. The footfall is growing, the organisation is innovative and there is no sign of cliquishness among the subscribers - the same cannot be said of several of the other sections.
A slow steady increase in posts is much better than a quick jump and a rapid descent into obscurity.
When a panorama is seen on other pages - especially the Gallery, a reminder can be posted extolling the virtues of this section, especially details of how to get here. Always remember the old adage "out of sight-out of mind". A post in the thread concerned not only tells the OP, but any and all interested parties.
For myself, I have never bothered with panos - but this section is firing my interest - just waiting for a few more tutorials and some warmer weather.
RGG, whatever you decide, I think you are on to a winner in all the good ways.

Well, we can do that but at the same time it creates an effort that is not needed if we can simply list their work on the panorama listing. That way they have it both was - Exposure in the gallery and listing here where they can join to gain information as well as help if they have issues when taking a panorama. For help they will need to post a sample here thought.
What I needed - and received - is how you will accept the idea of listing outside panoramas.
I needed that as it might not be a reflex to use the panorama list to see what are the panoramas on the whole site instead of just this section.
I just do not feel that I can just 'appropriate (list) someone else's panorama w/o their knowledge and consent.
Also... Since I rarely browse the gallery many of you might see something I do not and alert me about it or let the other UHH know about this section and the listing offer.
In any case, thank you all for the feedback.
