many different "raincoats" available and they are all PITA's to work with.

I have the Ruggard Rain shield and love it. I got mine from B&H when it was one of their "daily deals" for about $25. I figured it would be good for being "caught out in the rain". But it has been great at the beach and other places where there is rain, blowing sand, etc.

You know, although I bought a "rain coat" for my camera years ago (and have used it once or twice), a plastic bag turns out to work fine most of the time.
I use Storm Shield. It was relatively cheap but handles my Nikon D810 and a 400mm lens with ease. Really handy when I'm shooting college sports in the rain, or doing landscapes on the beach with high wind.
Yes, I've used plastic bags, but this is much better.
