Adobe Premiere Elements 15 (I have been learning this one lately)
Photoshop CC (yup, Photoshop does video - dabbled)
Lightroom Classic CC (yup, this one does video too)
DeVinci Resolve v14 (free - loaded it up but have not tried it yet)
For me either Cinelerra or Blender.

Avs4u. Pretty basic, but easy to use.
Final Cut Pro X mainly, sometimes iMovie on Mac
I've been using Premiere Elements since version 9. It is now on "2018" or 16.
It changes, but based on best seller lists at stores like Amazon and B&H, it may be that Premiere Elements is the most widely purchased.
The current version 2018 is working well at everything (and more) that I want to do. It does have a new "flaw". The ability to burn Blu-Rays has been taken out. I no longer make Blu-Ray discs so it is not an issue.
What sort of video projects do you want to do?
CS6 Premiere Pro and Audition for audio. They work together so you can edit audio on the video timeline non-destructively.

I like Final Cut Pro on Mac and Adobe Premiere on Windows. I prefer editing on a Mac though.
Premiere Pro. It has a learning curve, but there are plenty of books and video's. The end result is outstanding and it has a ton of special effects. I use a high end pc running windows 10 insider addition. I don't have the patients to wait on a Mac to render a 30 minute clip.
