Some forum members have hinted they use SD to CF adaptors for full frame camers. Does anyone know if this will work with a 5D MII wwhich I own ? Canon told me they didn't know because they had never tsted it. B&H told me it wouldnt work.
I have a fellow local photographer who shoots the 5D MkII and after replacing the damaged pins in her Canon, she started using the CF/SD adapter and has done so for over a year now with no more problems. It does not work with the Eye Fi cards though, apparently too much electronic interference to transmit the image that way.
Sounds like it is worth trying once I find out what an EyE fi card is. Thanks for the response

SD cards are slower. I have a mk2 and a mk3. I tried using the sd in the m3 and really didn't like it. I had raw files going to the CF card and jpegs going to the SD card. Probably my personal preference. I still edited from the raws and didn't use my sd files. I'd hoped the copy to the SD card would save time when I submitted my stories.
I rarely take my CF cards out of my cameras. I download the photos using a usb cable. Also, never force the CF into the camera.
I've never had any problems with CF cards.
I used the adapters on Olympus products prior to my shift to Nikon. They worked great but transfer data and record a little slower. Only noticeable on burst mode when capturing many images in a short time but only slightly different that when using CF. Class 10 SD cards write fasted than class 6 at no increased cost usually.
Just a thought.
Thanks for the comments. To sum, it looks like it is ok to use an adapter for SD to CF. It will slow tansfers to other mediums. And the pictutes in RAW are not compromised.Camera might be slowed in burst mode.
But no comments on using it for vedio!!

Remember there are class 1 & class 2 CF cards, one is 3mm thick & two is 5mm thick.
The older D200 will accept the class 2 cards as well as the class one cards.
However a newer camera such as the D700 will only accept the class one card which is thinner @ 3mm.
Check your camera requirements.
The SD-CF adapter is the thicker card @ 5mm. Bill
