Birding on Christmas Day

My wife and I decided to go birding down at Montrose Harbor on Chicago's lakefront on Christmas. It was freezing outside (17degrees F and windy) but it was a beautiful day. Here are some shots from the hour or so we could stand being out there.

You're a braver man than I, MikWar. It was 31 degrees here, so I stayed inside. I'm always amazed by how critters survive the winter.

I agree - I did an involuntary shiver every time I saw one of these dive beneath the surface - and stay down there a minute or so.

You did a good job for it being so cold out. I know how much colder it seems at the lake front with the wind that usually comes in off Lake Michigan. I used to live in Chicago and then the Northern suburbs. It is beautiful down there this time of year.

We live out in the burbs, but the Montrose Point location is always a great spot to see interesting birds.
