I have always felt that MY Camera battery should be from the original manufacturer, the "Off-Brands" being "Risky", so I have bought in the past an extra ENEL14A Nikon Battery for my Nikon D3300 DSLR Camera. I would like other thoughts and opinions on my thinking.
Are the "Off-Brands" SAFE to use in my Nikon D3300 Camera.??

A great number of people use 3rd party batteries and have had no problems with them. But for me I always get Nikon batteries.

So far, I've had no problems with "Off-Brand" batteries. But then, I'm a Canon person. ;-)

Most are safe , but to all. My only experience with after market was years ago in my D70, the battery worked fine for about 3 weeks the died.My first and last after market battery.
My girl friend is still using some of my original batteries (vintage 2008)for my D300 in her D300

My experience is the no name brand batteries don't hold their charge as long, even though they are rated higher than the OEM batteries. If they don't hold the charge, what else won't they do.

This falls into the penny wise and pound foolish category to me.

There's a big difference between "no name brand" and reputable third-party manufacturers. I've used Wasabi batteries for years and found them to be fully compatible and interchangeable with Nikons, even my D850, and they usually have higher amperage ratings than OEM. Never a problem.

Definitely OEM batteries are better in your camera. The difference is that the cheaper off brands have lowered charge/discharge cycles, and eventually won't hold a charge for as long as OEM batteries.

Yep

Answer above is nonsense. The printing on the outside does not enhance battery life.

I only buy Nikon and Watson batteries. However, I've heard good reviews on Wasabi batteries. Other unknown third party batteries I would avoid.

I've used generic batteries in everything for years. No problems. Of course, I also have several Nikon batteries, but I've never bought one.

$13.00/E vs $49.00/E for my Nikon D7100. I had a Watson with my Nikon Kit, it did not last very long and would not hold a charge. I only use Nikon at this point. They just seem to last and last. Plus, if there is an issue I would think I would have recourse with Nikon i.e. leaking.

As others have said... many swear about how great 3rd party batteries are. I NEVER use them because I don't want that to be an excuse if the camera dies. Also, Nikon will NOT repair a camera with a "Non"-Nikon battery. Yes you can always pull the non-Nikon battery and put in the original but if the battery is the issue then you didn't resolve the problem. I had 2 Watson batteries and both only gave me about one half the shots I was getting from my Nikon batteries. The Watsons died and went into the trash after about 1.5 years of service and the original Nikon is still working great. I have since added 3 more Nikon batteries and I constantly rotate them. I will never get another off brand battery. Just my opinion based on my history with the two Watsons.

You would think so but now I'm not sure. Nikon OEM batteries are third party with the Nikon name. Check your warranty.

With the D850 warranty card, the ONLY mention of batteries (in tiny print that requires a magnifier):

....limitations and exclusions:
4. This warranty shall not apply to any batteries.

So, what did you learn here? The people who only use OEM swear by OEM. The people who use third party batteries swear by third party batteries (or swear at them). I know you're looking for insights here (I do too), but sometimes all you get is confusion. People, whose opinions I trust, are on both sides of this issue. Make your choice and stick with it.

I am satisfied paying a little more for something that was designed by the manufacturer for their product. For others, it may not be a big deal. I’ll stick with Nikon OEM batteries for my D750and D7200.
