Very good capture Gary and they truly are one of the masters of flight! If you haven't already, check out the double click for a very detailed image! Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much S-C. Gary

Well, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Nice shot.
I have a shot of one that landed in our yard a few years ago one Easter morning. It was eating some cooked corn that my mother put out for the birds.
As far as I know, that is a once in a lifetime happening because they generally eat road kill.

Thank you very much. I suppose if they get hungry enough, anything is on the menu! Gary

They are a lot prettier in flight, than they are on the side of the road eating carcass

I personally think they are quite beautiful. You took a very nice photo of one. They can soar for hours and barely use any energy. They are Nature's clean up crews and their excrement is sterile. Thanks.

Thank you very much Photophred. Several years ago, I had a close encounter w/ one and it stayed w/ me for almost an hour. It flew by me and brushed its wing against my shoulder to start. I had to run a wire across a field and it walk along side me the entire time. That night, I went home and googled them and read up on them. They are quite an impressive bird! Gary

Nice shot. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

To some, vultures are beautifull in their own way. Forget what they do but look at their grace and beauty.

Happy holidays.

Thank you very much Jeff. I read that once up in the thermals, they can fly for 50 miles, w/out flapping their wings. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. Gary
