Well, I suppose I am about to ask kind of a "dumb" question but I want to make the right choice. I just upgraded from a D70 to a D850 and wow do I ever realize what a giant step I took. Little did I know that my new camera would arrive without a memory card. My old camera didn't need one. So, what type do I buy? I see M's and G's but have no idea what they do and why one would be better for me than another. I'm pretty sure I need an XQG but I don't know why or if I'm right. I will be shooting raw mainly of dogs and horses. Be kind everyone. We all have to start somewhere :)

Just put in a Lexar 128gb Pro 800x or 8000x, man what a difference in speed of transfer. Love it!

Your XQD card can either be a Sony or Lexar. For the moment Lexar cards will not be in high stock, because the company was sold to another one. They have some catching up to do. Your SD card slot can be a UHS-II, because it is compliant to the camera.

Is it possible you didn't know your D70 uses a CF card (compact flash)?

Whatever you do, don't look in your manual or visit the Nikon site.

If you want the correct answer call customer service at B&H in NYC. Or call Campus Camera in Kent Ohio.

Come on now Bill! The rudest answer should be "Read your manual!"

The guy asked a serious question and wanted a correct answer, I answered his question the best way I could. Some folks can't read, or, he may be looking in the non-english version of the manual and may not know that their is one also written in english. Or, he could read your post, now that would have been rude.
