Planning a trip to Panama. I would like to have my Android phone capture GPS tracking data to add into Lightroom Map module. Any software recommendations? While I would like it to be a low-resource program I do want one I can turn on and off.
Load Lightroom CC Mobile. Use the Lightroom Camera app to take a shot in each location where you want to store GPS data. THe pictures, which have to be taken with the Lighroom Mobile camera module, will contain the GPS data at time of creation. When you get back home, these Mobile pictures will synch, via the cloud and your Adobe account, to a Collection in Lightroom called Lightroom Mobile.
Drag each one of the GPS tagged photographs to the folder with the specific shots, and open the Map Module. Drag the mobile picture onto the map, then highlight the rest of the images in the series and drop them on top of the Mobile image in the Map Module. Bingo, Bob's Your Uncle.
What brand of camera do you have? Panasonic provides a GPS logging app that puts phone location data into the image files. Others may do the same.
Google maps can do this.
Before you go, turn on location history on Google maps; it is probably on already.
After your trip, go to
https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout and select Google location history, choose KML format, and after a while you'll get a link to download a KML file of your locations.
You can use gpsbabel to convert to gpx format if you need, and lightroom can tag photos by gpx. You may have to adjust tinge stamps for timezones in lightroom first.
Apple phones have built-in GPS, don't know about android phones, but they probably do. When I need GPS info, I take a photo with my iPhone while at that location. Later, when loading the photos from the non-GPS camera, I add that info to the photos in Lightroom. Not direct, but it works. 👍🤓👍
These are four that I have installed on my Android phone... although I have yet to get around to trying any of them
Photo GPS Tag
PhotoTrackr
GPS4Cam
Geotag Photos
Anyway, I am sure a search in Google Play store will find others for you.
