If you have it and want the last ever update, today the version is now 6.14.

"Lightroom 6.14 is the last perpetual, standalone version of Lightroom. While you may continue to purchase and use Lightroom 6 with a perpetual license, Adobe will no longer provide updates to the software. "

I tried yesterday about 9pm after someone mentioned the update. I went from her. 6.1.1 to 6.3.
Maybe I'll try again this weekend.

Thanks for posting.

I am getting a copy for Christmas. Thanks for the heads up from a newbie.

Yep! Got it! I have PS6 and LR6, and that's the last money I'll be giving Adobe. There are lots of good alternatives.

Worth considering lightroom 5.71 was released around December 14th 2014. A little over 3 years ago and , yep still works :) ACR is 8.71 in that version.

It may be the last release of LR 6 standalone ~today but that doesn't make it useless now.

And I'll march along on Classic for a measly $10 a month and not have move from one tool to another while getting fixes and new function. I'd rather spend my time out taking pictures than playing conversion. At our ages, we can't take it with us! :) :)

Lightroom works beautifully and I will continue to use it. I am puzzled with all the grousing about Adobe's pricing. Just think back to the film days. First week of the month you buy a roll of film, shoot it, process it and your $10 is gone and you have the rest of the month to go. Please, no more whining about Adobe and Lightroom.

I just installed and updated LR6 on my Mac. I figured I'd better do it before the end of the month.

You rushed to buy the last upgrade to a program you use and like (I assume or you would be using one of the good alternatives) then instantly rubbish the company, even though they are a solid company offering a good product in a good package (LR/PS) for a good price. I don't get it. You could save your subscription money for ten years and it wouldn't equal the cost of standalone Photoshop. I can't see what the downside of Adobes current plan is. Newest versions at a good price with full support. Where does your disdain for them come from?

FWIW - I've been using 6.12 for a few months and decided to update to what will be the last update. So clicked on the update button under the Help dropdown and followed the path. The update seemed to be running normally, but then ended up with a box that said update failed. When I checked, my LR was back to 6.0, and clicking on Help/Updates gave a screen that said it was up to date. All attempts to install 6.14 manually failed, as did attempts with 6.13 and 6.12. I reinstalled LR from the Adobe web site (which installs 6.0) and it too says it is up to date, and I cannot get any of the individual update files to install manually. I gave up my attempts to get Adobe help after half-hour waits for a phone pickup and then for a chat pickup - I indicated when initiating each that I was dealing with standalone LR, and I'm enough of a conspiracy theorist to think they just don't pick up those help requests until there are no CC requests to deal with.

Unfortunately I'm in the middle of printing ~900 Christmas prints that go into books that are given away, so I can't just wait until the year end crunch is over to address this problem. About half of the images I need to print are from raw files that needed 6.12 for LR to recognize, and even though I can see the converted, black and white images that I've developed, they won't print. So I need at least 6.12 on my machine.

I suspect I could get the CC Classic version and have it up and running in 20 minutes. I was planning NOT to go with the subscription model - thought I'd just stick with 6.12/6.14 as long as they worked. But I NEED to get running quickly, so I may be stuck.

Take this FWIW. If I had it to do over again I would NOT attempt to update to LR 6.14 - EVER - if what I had was working properly.

Well I tried again, called support and after 56 minutes of pure elevator music (with no interruptions for "all our agents are busy" or "your call is important, please stay on the line" and the like) I got a guy who said they don't give any support for standalone products and I'd have to go to one of the forums to see if anybody has a solution for me.

They REALLY don't want any standalone customers any more.

Many companies like Microsoft, Adobe etc. stop sending software updates for their older versions thus causing us to use the current version as is or update the the newer at a cost. Have been a lightroom user since the first edition offered. I've learned it and know it, for the $10.00 per month you get the latest Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop, and updates as they are released. If only doing a few dozen pixs a month maybe another program will work. CC looks like the only way you are going to be able to use these programs in order to keep the latest updates and programs in the Adobe world. If one buys a 12 pack of beer it will cost you more than $10.00, a roll of film with processing well over $10.00. IMO Adobe CC is worth the money....
