I have noticed that, by far, the majority of posts that mention the OPs camera mention a Nikon. Yet when looking at TV where there are photographers, there seems to be a lot of Canons. Is it just that Nikon users post more?

It's those white L-series lenses.

I believe Canon has a little bit more of the market share than Nikon.

As of Oct 2017 Canon still outsells every other camera manufacturer in the DSLR world at 54.7% of the market (compared to 39.1% for Nikon). I think your observation is inaccurate where users of one brand seem to squeak more than others. At any given moment in time, activity like new cameras / significant new lens designs generate noise for a period of time and then the focus shifts to the other vendor with their next release and so on and so forth ....

I have noticed the higher quantity of postings by Nikon users here as well. Maybe Canon users bought what they wanted and are not disappointed in their gear's quality and reliability ? I think the equipment for sale here says the same kind of thing - always see more Nikon than Canon gear.

Maybe this forum is really a well disguised support group for unsatisfied Nikon users !!

Love my Canon gear ! (Yes, i know you can get great results with either brand, but its fun to stir the pot ...)

Paul - Far better to purchase based on what you need and like rather than “percentage of use” stats.
Go your own way, brother.

Funny, I see the opposite, more Canon gear on the sale & trade forum.

You are correct. Here are the figures for 2017.

Paul, face it, old people favor Nikon and most here are OLD!!
It's much different in the unretired set and in younger people.
Of course among pros Canons are overwhelmingly prefered especially in sports and action. I shoot some sports professionally and I see mostly Canons, an occasional Nikon and I've never seen a ML. Heck, I don't recall seeing anything other than Canikon!!
For and example of pro press shooters, see my link below. It's where the REAL rubber meets the road!!! Seeing is believing!

I agree with you and the point to stir the pot a little too.

And then again lots of Nikon posts seem to have issues here on the hog, is it they don’t have a good grasp of their equipment or they just like to complain to get some attention I’m just wondering?

I am a Nikon gear owner. Canon is the leader in marketing. And I'm sure most Nikon owners know that. Better marketing results in getting a bigger piece of the pie. Doesn't necessarily mean the cameras are better overall. In fact, I just got an email today, from the New Camera Website, stating the Canon 7D Mark 3 will come out during the summertime of 2018. I'm sure it will be better than its predecessor. And excitement will happen when it is released.

I shoot Canon & have been doing so for these last 50+yrs & every once & a while - probably shear luck - crank-off a good if not fine looking shot

Non-biased user here, Paul ... shoot with both (5 Nikons, 3 Canons) plus 3 Sony alphas and a Pentax - one dozen in all ... no preference - like 'em all ....
