Restored Clock

I bought this clock in an unworking condition a few weeks ago ... a good dust n clean (alcohol) got it back into a ticking condition ... however the front/back vertical is slightly out so I had to add about 1/16th inch 'feet' on the front elevation to keep it ticking for it's full 31 day cycle ... lit with beauty dish against black background ... dl is cool

Lovely.
Dad was a watchmaker and occasionally worked on clocks. I assume you put a high quality light-weight oil back after you wisely cleaned it with alcohol. then you want to listen to the tick and the tock. They are the sound of the pendulum swinging right and then left. They should be even. If they are not, the clock will be less accurate and not run as long. the screws that hold the clock in the case normally have enough play to allow you to rotate the movement slightly until the tick and tock are even :-)
Enjoy your lovely clock and great photo!

Congratulations on your restoration, and your beautiful image!. My maternal grandparents once had such a clock.

Great picture, beautiful clock, wish you were closer so you could work on all of mine. I know that balance is a major problem. Thanks for posting.

Lovely picture. And quite nice restoration work. Also restored my grandparents' old clock (ca 1850) and like your finish better.
