Great news: I think a lot of people here at UHH will be very happy for me now

I am very, very happy to tell all of you that I bought a Canon 77D BODY (and battery and charger) from a very, very nice person on this UHH site, for a very, very reasonable price, and he is shipping it to me tomorrow (Monday, December 17th, 2017), and I will be able to use my husband's perfectly good Canon 100-300 mm 1:5.6 lens... (that was on a Canon EOS 620 film camera that he bought in 1987). He only asked for $350, and I did not ask for the lower price, he just offered in a PM. I'm on cloud nine!

I would never have been able to save up the $749 required for this camera body on Amazon. Never in a million years.
I am extremely happy. Now I might be able to capture some birds in flight, or on the water, with the zoom lens my DH already had.
I am not poor, but I do suffer from a high mortgage and a $623/month condo fee. It's expensive to live in Boston, and I'm staying here.

I think a lot of nice people on this site will be glad to know this.
This is a great forum full of nice people.

Wonderful news, Cat! And, thanks for the follow-up report (we don't always get the conclusions to these stories). Merry Christmas!

I know it. It's killing me, but as a resident of Boston, owning property as a resident, and not as a landlord, saves a lot of money in taxes. So that helps! I love Boston.

Although I shoot Nikon, congrats on your purchase and I hope you enjoy it.

I don't live in Boston or any expensive state. We are retired (2001) and have been full time RVers since then. Since we retired, we have been as far South as Key West, and as far North as Fairbanks Alaska.

When we retired in 2001, I had my trusty Minolta SLR. However, I got tired of carrying all that equipment. I finally got a Bridge Digital Camera and it worked well (this was 2002). It died and I purchased another Bridge Camera from Costco, this one was a Konica-Minolta Z something. I really enjoyed this camera UNTIL 2013.

In 2013, we volunteered at the Salton Sea State Recreation Area in California, a birder's paradise (at least during the winter). After a week or two in this beautiful place, I went to Costco and bought a Nikon D5100 kit, to be perectly honest I almost bought a Canon Kit that was similar but the Nikon Kit provided a slightly longer telephoto lens. That's how I ended up with a Nikon.

Yes, now I carry more that I did when I just used a Bridge Camera, but the results are much better!

Sorry for rambling on, I said more than I had planned; however, enjoy you new (lovingly used) camera and take lots of great photos!

My best to you.

Thank you so much Larry! I really enjoyed your story! What a wonderful retirement you are having. I hope you are very safe while driving. Watch out for especially crazy pedestrians who love to step into the street to cross any where and any time. That's what it's like in Boston. Even going slow and careful, just makes them more bold.
I take the city trains and buses only, or walk, 99% of the time.

Now I am going to have a Canon 77D! I'm so, so happy!

Keep enjoying the wildlife and scenery! And Keep us here on UHH up to date on your travels!
