If all you have with you is a point and shoot you can still take multiple images for a pano. This is a 2 shot horizontal image from the overlook at Wolf Creek Pass Colorado (10,857') The camera was a Nikon P100. The data says f/6.3, S 1/350, ISO 160. 4.6mm lens (I have no idea how to translate that to a 35mm format lens)

No worries about the 35mm 'translation', I do not think anyone cares. 4.6 = wide angle.

Rich, that is a great photo. It proves again that one does not need an expensive camera for a great photo.
