It DOES have a red dot on it; I read specs and reviews...
I searched online (google) but I'm just not sure. Thanks.

Any Canon camera that has an interchangeable EF-S lens will also take an EF or an L lens.

But a Canon FF or Full Frame will not take an EF-S lens.

Canon makes three basic quality lenses.

EF-S - is their lowest quality line of lenses.

EF - lenses are their middle quality lenses.

L - are their Pro Line of lenses, their best quality of lenses, and they are weather sealed.

Buy the best quality lens that you can afford, if you are building your lens collection. The better quality glass that you buy will reward you in the long run. Photography is all about getting the most out of your equipment. If you start with poor quality glass, you're never going to get really exceptional WOW shots. But if you have a better quality lens, then your chances are improved.

Set your budget, do your research to find the best quality lens to cover your needs. And if need be, save up a little more to buy the better quality lens. Lenses will last a lifetime if you take care of them. Camera technology is constantly evolving.

Don't skimp on decent or better quality glass just because you can't afford the next best lens right now. I've learned this lesson the hard way. Start a fund to save up for your next purchase.

You can also use other manufacturers lenses as long as they have Canon mounts.

Your legacy EF lens can mount to any Canon EOS DSLR. Also from previous responses to this question, take the lens to a camera shop and confirm / demonstrate this oft stated fact ...

Not all EF lenses are L lenses.

DO NOT confuse the two different quality lines of lenses.

EF merely describes the lens mount. The L lenses are an EF mount the same as the non L EF lenses. In a previous post the L lens was describes as if it was something other than an EF mount which would be misleading.

Let me put this a different way.

Have you ever used an L Lens? I have.

Have you ever done an actual comparison of an L lens against another non L lens? I have.

Have you ever compared a v.1 against a v.2, or a v.3 version of a lens? I have.

The actual camera mounts of all three lines of the Canon lenses are the same. What is different is the construction on the back end of the lens. The EF-S lens is deeper, which would interfere with a full frame internal mechanism.

If the mounts weren't the same, you wouldn't be able to use an EF lens on a lower end model camera. That's the advantage of interchangeable lens system.

You are making meaningless points to obfuscate your original post which represented an L lens as having something other than an EF mount.

If you bother to go back and actually read my first post on this topic, it refers to the quality of the lens, not the style of the mount.

You are the one who is making meaningless points to obfuscate your responses. Confusion on your part in how you were reading my post.

It's been debated ad nauseum on UHH, that Canon has three distinctive classes of lenses, consumer grade, prosumer grade, and professional grade lenses.

The quality of the build of the lenses, the grade of the actual glass, and the coatings on the individual lenses is what sets them apart.

Get over it, you're not going to win your argument, simply based on your statement that the design of the mount on the EF lenses and the design of the mount on the L lenses are the same. It's all about the QUALITY of the end product!

You do know that this is a photography site don't you?

You've been a member since July 30, 2016, that's just over 16 months. In that time you have started only 11 discussions, none of which contain any of your own pictures.

You've responded almost 1,800 times to other topics.

Do you even take any snapshots, or are you a troll?

The quality of my photographic work stands on it's own.

Nope. I re-read your post and you are seeming to indicate that an L lens is not an EF mount. If you look at the description of any L lens it clearly contains EF in the description. Also EF-S lenses are not neccesarily low quality. EF-S just means it is for a crop sensor camera.

You are the only person who is having a problem with understanding my posts and somehow believe that they're misleading.

It's obvious that you're NOT a photographer at all, but simply a TROLL on the site.

Put up or shut up.

By that I mean that you need to post some quality photography that you actually took on your own topic. You've spent the last 3.5 hours showing that you're not a photographer.

When someone is out of arguments they inevitivably turn to name calling and denigration.
