Following a thread offered somewhere else on UHH I found this rig... 6 cameras, 96 mpx
Here is the
link.Since this was made in 2014 I am sure we now can up t 400MPx w/o much trouble or more $$$.
As to the use of it? A good tripod and a fair knowledge allows you to do the same thing, even better since there will be no parallax errors.
Anyway I found the presentation interesting.

Quite interesting - thanks for presenting it. I can see its good use for night time urban settings.

Nice Toy. I regularly shoot panoramas with a single 16MP DSLR w/a 50mm f/1.7 lens (I have not tried my newer 24MP camera yet). Shooting Raw I end up with stitched panos that are sometimes over 1.2GB! Those initially get saved as 16-bit PSB files, once trimmed down, I'll work with and save TIFF (archiving) and JPEG (sharing) files.
Since thus far I've avoided scene with anything in the foreground I have not had to consider parallax error. Geometric distortions, yes (largely correctable with Ps). I figured out a rig from a fancy Strobe Frame to place the tripod head pivot point at the lens node so I would not have the parallax error issue if I did shoot a foreground.
