My 7d crashed (my fault) and don’t want to spend $815. On repair. I’m looking at the Canon 7D Mark II.

Haven't used the 7D MK II but have read many positive comments about it. There are many reviews available at various websites.

Acording to Ken Rockwell there is no better ASC format camera .. and he might be correct ... Nikon 500 equal to it

I've had the 7D II since its introduction. Technology wise it is getting a little long on the tooth but it is still a great camera and the fastest crop sensor body Canon makes. It is better weather sealed than the original and it is capable of creating excellent images. It also has quite a sophisticated auto focus system.
A Canon refurbished unit would be a great choice if you want a good camera and want to save some money.

I agree 100%. I went from a 7D to a 7D Mark II (the 7D handed down to wife). It is everything I would want in a camera. Canon usa has a refurbished 7d II for $999 with a one year mfg warranty today. This is about as good as it gets. I love mine.

Awesome camera. I had the original 7D and I wasn't sure I was going to upgrade when Canon announced the 7D II. So after a few friends bought them, and I read some articles on them, I was sold. I sold my 7D for $550 and bought the Mark II. It shoots 10 frames per second, takes 2 memory cards, has a state of the art focus system, has many many cross point focus points, a large buffer for shooting long bursts, and over 20 megapixels. The sensor is way better at handling noise than it's predecessor too. It takes the same battery as the original 7D and all of the 5D series cameras so sharing batteries is awesome too. I love this camera.

Option: Replace your 7D with a mint condition 7D in the box from George Ury. If you go to the site click on Digital on the list on the left, then scroll down to the Canon 7D. George is retiring after many years in the business. Today is his last day. I have bought camera bodies and lenses from him over the years and when he says "mint" it looks like new.

It may be mint but its old....old and tired technology. Why not the upgrade?

I had a 7DII paired with a 6D FF, loved both cameras. Recently traded both and upgraded my FF to 5DIV and sort of went sideways to an 80D for my APS-C for the updated sensor and 27 f/8.0 AF points. I didn't use all the features of the 7DII for my birds and the 80D has all the ones I did use, plus a bunch I didn't. I did give up the "built like a tank" thing, two memory slots and dual processors plus 3 fps burst speed (I used 7 fps silent most of the time anyway). But I got all those things in the 5DIV for my FF flowers, butterflies and macro that I am getting into more.

I had the 7D but was disappointed in low light performance, however I now have the 7D MKII and although it is not as good in low light as my 6D it is very good for sports and wildlife photography. If you liked your 7D you will be over the top about a 7D MKII.

Since the 7D2 came out, I have used it for my assigned newspaper sports assignments and my personal bird photography. VERY RELIABLE AND VERY USER FRIENDLY. BTW, with few exceptions I take pix with it daily. Of course, make sure you update your firmware from Canon.
