I'm using Lexar readers in their Professional Hub. Can't remember if they connect to my iMac via USB 3 or Thunderbolt. I would highly recommend this system, if you can still find them. I spoke with Lexar folks in NY at Photo+ and they claimed they would be back around the end of the year. They were bought by the company that made their products (chips, etc.). Best of luck.

Just wondering, when I ordered my D850, I looked on line for an XQD card reader. Not many different kinds, as far as I can see. Now that I have the camera, the Adorama website says they are "backordered" on each of the different kinds they sell. Presuming that I will (someday) be able to buy one, what make/brand/model reader do you folks use who need to get data from an XQD card?

Amazon has 3 left: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MRWE90-BC1-XQD-Reader/dp/B01IRRI5CC

I use the Lexar Professional Workflow XR2 reader. It has the same push in/pop out type of mechanism as the card slot in the camera.

Me Too no problems with it

Why are you using a card reader instead of plugging the camera into the computer? By removing and reinstalling the card you run the chance to bend a pin. I know you'll say its faster but is it worth the risk. I've shot digital since 2004 and I always plug the camera in the computer and have never had the issue of a bent pin. You'll surely bend a pin when your in a hurry and don't look or take care. By leaving the card in I can reformat in just a second and the camera 's software makes a numerically named folder for your shots.

There are no pins to be bent with the SD format, just CF. Also, direct transfer to computer from camera uses the camera's batteries unnecessarily

That's not a problem for me because I always check each camera that I download and more often that not I'll pull the battery after downloading is completed and put it in its respective charger.

the slot that the card slides into is long/deep enough that you would have to really work on it to mess up a set of pins. the slot is nearly 1/2 again longer than that of a CF slot. you should have no worries on this.

If your careful your not going to bend pins there is only 1 way to insert XQD card why the worry ?? You would have to force it and still I don't think you could. Its really a no Brainer
