Has anyone heard anything recent on how far the backlog is on the D850? Any idea when the most recent orders from Nikon were shipped and when they were placed?

I'm thinking that the situation is much improved. I ordered mine from Amazon the first week of November and got it within 3 weeks.

Adorama shipped during the last week in November for orders placed well into September.

I just received one yesterday with SN of 13852, so around 14,000 shipped to date over the past 3 months.
"Backlog" depends on who you pre-ordered from, B&H has the longest backlogs.

I was shooting today and one of the guys who was there had a D850. I think he said he was from Maryland. Said he walked into his local camera store to put his name on the list just as UPS put nine on the counter. He is a regular customer there and walked out the door with one.

Try Dell.Com, they sell Nikon & Canon & may have it in stock... Not sure if they carry the D850 yet, but the last time I looked they had up to the D750. Plus same price as B&H. (usually) Worth a look I suppose.

Question, when you say around 14,000 is that world wide or just to the USA?

More importantly, who has the shortest?

Had a CC problem with Adorama. It ended where they said I would need to reorder and I wood be placed back to the end of waiting list again over a credit card problem that was fixed within a few hours. I went to a local camera shop and had mine in about two weeks.

I got mine from Cameta Camera a month ago after a wait of 11 days. I gave up on B&H this one time.

I butted into MT's area due to the 2 hour time difference. He would be the one to school us on Nikon and other serial number designations.

A friend of mine called Roberts in Indianapolis 10 days ago, and got one about a week later. when I was still on order, Roberts had told me that they expected to have them in stock around Christmas.
