I just got given a D200 that works perfectly (so far) with a shutter count of 273,000. Think it's had a "rebuild" or just a tough camera
That's unbelievable. Especially for a crop sensor. Pro cameras such as the D4s and D5 have rating much higher. Keep on clicking until it dies on you. You got it for free. It could have had a shutter replacement. Because Nikon does not roll back shutter counts when shutter is replaced. But, I'm certain the person who gave you the camera would have told you that.

I have a local photojournalist who still shoots with two Nikon D3s's. One has a shutter count of 1.8 MILLION, the other one only has a shutter count of 1.2 MILLION (Neither has had the shutters replaced). Shutters can last a VERY long time, or they can fail prematurely, there is no way to know when they will fail until they actually do.

If it is not broken, don't fix it. My old film camera Nikon's, which had no way of determining shutter counts, took close to a 1,000,000 shots and as far as I know it is probably still taking shots.
