Learning from the Nikon manual is sort of like trying to learn a language by reading its dictionary.
If memory serves, B&H Cameras in New York City used to stock a series of laminated heavy duty quick reference cards to do almost anything needed on the cameras covered. I had one for the Nikon D3200 I have, and once I got used to the camera, I kept it in my camera bag for the unusual command, they are well organized and easy to follow, unlike Nikon's manuals which read like they were translated from Japanese into Hopi Indian, then into English. Good idea on the extra battery, you've probably already discovered Bluetooth burns down a battery fast. (Figuratively, not literally.)
