Where can I find a quick release that fits my Star D tripod?
B and H . Look for Arca-Swiss quick releases.

As I recall the Star D has a non removable pan head.
If that is the case you will need to get an Arca-Swiss clamp to put on the pan head.
Then you will need an A-S plate for your camera and/or lens.
Both can be found on Amazon.
A photo of the tripod head would help.

Hereâs a pic not good but shows you what you need I think.
Will the clamp and plates unit listed be all I need to get my camera on the tripod?

Yes, attach the clamp to the pan head and the plate to your camera.
You can then use the clamp to attach the camera to the tripod.
Does the quarter inch screw come out of the clamp that attaches to the tripod? The tripod has a 1/4 inch male screw on it.
Photowiz, stay tuned, as they say. Film at 11. I'll post some photos and part numbers about an hour or so from now.

Here's a few photos. The first photo show this part
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/342302-REG/Arca_Swiss_802010_Quick_Release_with_Flip_lock.html on the tripod. This is fastened using the screw on the tripod that would normally engage the bottom of the camera.
The second photo shows the locking lever, this locks the camera plate to the quick release, in the open position. In this position, the camera plate is free to slide in and out of its engagement with the quick release.
The third is a photo of the plate which is semi permanently mounted to my camera. There is a fastener that engages the threaded hole normally used for fastening to the tripod. The plate slides into the quick release, the lever closed, and the camera is firmly attached to the tripod. The plate measures approximately 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 3/8.
This same tripod setup is used to mount my 4x5 view camera, just to give you an idea of the holding capacity.
There are other brands of clamps and plates, but I'd prefer to use ones with the best reputation.

Thank you Bob for a very clear direction. The only neg is the cost of the Quick release. $150 seems a bit much.😩What to do?
