I am looking at purchasing the Tamron 28 / 300 mm lens for my D750 to use as a walk around, travel, amd general purpose lens looking for UHH members who may own this lens or have had an opportunity to use it and what their conclusions are on its performance?

You should also consider some good Prime Lens, like 35mm & 50mm 1.2, 1.4, or 1.8

When you have the best zoom lens in the world and shoot at anything over about 150mm in poor light, you'll need to walk around with a tripod too.

Hey, I have the Nikon 28-300mm and it's a great lens. I can't speak for the Tamron, but my 28-300 is a great zoom. It's sharp and it's one of those lenses that you put on your camera and don't take off.

Depends on where you are walking around, but, if it is around a lot of different environments, that lens has a good reputation.

I use it on a Nikon D750 and am very happy with it. I bought it for the size, weight and price over the Nikon version. See basic jpeg at 300mm, f/11, 1/60th, 12800 iso, indoors, no flash, no processing. I travel with it, and a few primes for special shots--usually the f/1.8 85mm and 24mm.

I've been using the Nikon 28-300 for several years with great results on a D7100.

I wonder if it would be possible for the initial question to be answered prior to the opinions of others just once I would like to see this happen

I'm a big guy, so a big lens is a good choice for me. I saw and was allowed to try a 50 to 500 Sigma for my Canon 5D MkII. For outdoors on a sunny day you can hand hold this beast and get great pictures- from close to way far away; that I describe as reaching out and touching my subject. I believed in prime lenses before, so much so I bought a Canon 85mm 1.2. If you are indoors, in lousy light; say a a party or living room, and you don't need or want the distraction of a flash this was great. Both lenses allow you to be indiscreet and capture those special moments, which is what I think photography is all about.

Since the D750 is a FF camera, the 28mm wide angle should be wide enough for you. I have an 18-300 Sigma, but on a crop body so the 18 acts like a 28.8 on it.
