I am creating a panorama from captures I took this summer (2017).
31 images, .NEF shot with a D500.
I am using ICE because everything else seems to fail.
The computer has crawled into a small hole... CPU usage... 24%, speed dropping from 3.5 GHz to... 1.4 GHz I have never seen this before then...
The memory used?
RAM: In use: 29.7 available 97.7
Cached 71.6
I think I have brought this rig to its knees today.
Time for eggnog and a conversation with my government...
What are you writing about?
It appeared you were crawling into a small hole to talk to your government. If you are writing about making panoramas, leave out the junk!

Instead of making comments like this... The last comment is in par with the rest. I had the time to walk out, share something with my wife and walk in half an hour later with the job done - and posted - it.
Sorry if I offended you... It was not intended. I very much like what you are doing with the Panorama section. Such is the risk of typing instead of real, face to face, conversation. Sigh!!!!

You have not offended me so no issue at all.
Did you get ICE to work? I tried it briefly tried it and it jammed up my computer. I went to Lightroom. I don't know if it is "better" or not. It is certainly convenient if one already uses it as the front end of their photography post processing system.

Yes, it took 45 minutes and despite being 'old' it accepted the .NEF from my D500. This is because i have the camera CODECS loaded in Windows otherwise it would not have worked.
Of note: I tried with PS CC. The results were slightly different. PS CC wants all images to be oriented the same way (Portrait or landscape) which adds an extra step. ICE could not care less as long as it finds a stitch-able area.
Oh, yes, it also 'jammed my PC'. Read the initial post to see what it did to it... Slow down the CPU??????? Memory use was not unexpected and since I have 128GB on this rig, I just did not care.
