Tamron 150-600 G2 focusing issues.
Has anyone had any focusing problems with this lens. I just got it and yesterday went to a wildlife refuge
to try it. I had trouble getting it in focus in general but eventually I did. Then I tried panning an eagle that
flew by. Took a little time to get focus then I lost focus period. I understand there is a learning curve and
it takes practice. Just wonder if anyone has had this issue and did you come up with a solution.
Thanks for your time.

What was the sky like? Overcast. Foreground objects confusing focus? What camera body? Need more info!
It’s a Canon 7D, it was a sunny day.
But I’ve read so many good reviews on it. I have a 300 also
but just couldn’t reach the wildlife in trees and in the field.

I have found it a bit challenging but after trying it on several bodies I have concluded it is user error. I placed it on a tripod and tested it with the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and the Nikon 200-500. Although they were very close the Tamron was a hair sharper at f/8. But I do not believe it snaps into focus as fast as either of those other lenses.
I would probably agree with you.....I didn’t really want to blame the lens. Thanks for your input.

I have noticed that I have not achieved the focus consistency that I have experienced with those other lenses. But I have only been using it sporadically over the past couple weeks.
What you might of thought of the image being out of focus, might be camera shake.
There are 3 VC (Vibration Compensation) Modes on that lens.
•1 is normal mode (the image will noticeably stablize in the viewfinder).
•2 is the panning mode.
•3 mode- the stabilization work at the moment the shutter is released (it will look like the VC is not working, but it is)
Make sure you have the VC switch to the on position.
You might also try shooting at high shutter speeds (1/2000) with and without the VC.

You sound like somebody that's not happy with anything! ALL CAPS! What camera body? Mine works GREAT!!! Especially after I used it a bit. Cloudy sky can be a problem with BIF or airplanes. As can foreground branches ...
600MM is a lot different than 300 and so is the weight of the lens if HH. Hope you don,t need the reach!
