Does anyone know how to fix the message "Unable to create a temporary work folder"? Now appears after each and every file is down loaded.

Sounds like security. Run the program as an administrator and double check the target drive & folder where you're copying to.

Thanks, I've already done that. To fix the other problem that I talked to you about I had to reinstall the disk that came with my camera. Unable to use the latest DPP4 software even after talking with Canon. At least I'm able to download and process my files even though its a pain. Not so funny is that I can save and access the files from Windows Photo but don't use or like that program. This happened after I got a Blue screen and a message from Windows saying that they had to "fix" and restart my computer. I ran several scans on my computer and it came up clean. I have deleted and reinstalled DPP4 7.20 several times and am resolved to the fact that it won't work for some reason, just trying to get back to the old system until after the first of next year when I have a new computer built.

Thanks again!

I have a similar problem. DPP4 works well on the laptop, crashes on the desktop at start-up ("...has stopped running and needs to close"). No idea why. Even removed and re-installed on the desktop. Luckily, it runs well on one computer, and I did not get rid of the previous version (3) on the desktop. Both versions are on the laptop also, so it's not a contention problem.
Hoping it will fix itself one day with another revision.

Thanks, I am running version 4 but not able to make the latest version of 4 run. I do like their software, just wish it would run. I have been using DPP for over 8 years now, maybe time to look for a different work flow. I see on different sites that I'm not the only one having problems with the same thing. If you figure yours out please let me know and I will do likewise.

hmmm - I don't get updates of DPPv4 regularly as my cameras and lenses don't change frequently. Is the problem a newly installed version? Or, did it start after our friends at Microsoft just pushed a big update in Nov 2017? I keep the install files when I download. Do you want me to look and see what versions I have?

Most definitely!
(Been using DPP before the T21 came out.)

Yes, versions please. also what operating system. (Both my laptop (Toshiba Sattelite from 2012) and desktop (more recent HP) are WIN7.)
Please see my comment in the thread re the two computers.

Looks like I have 4.6.30 in a Win10 Pro laptop, Dell XPS 15. I also run DPP on a Dell XPS workstation with regular Win10. I wouldn't surprise me to see problems, particularly security, starting to pop-up for software targeted for Win10 but running on older OSs.

Well I saw that there was a new version of DPP 4, getting more like LR, so I down loaded it from Canon. About at the same time I had my computer shut down twice and a square bar code came on and a message saying that Windows had to shut down the computer an fix it and would restart. I did scan the computer several times and found no malware or any other problems associated with what I thought was a strange occurrence.

I'd like to find and fix this problem before I go all out with a custom building of a new computer early next year.

Thanks again!

4.6.10 and 4.7.20 both work on the laptop, as well as 3.15.0.0
but only 3.15.0.0 will run on the desktop...
I don't believe I will find an answer in a timely fashion.

4.7.20 just will not work! I have gone back to 4.6.10 and it does work sort of. I keep getting a message "Unable to create a temporary work folder" after each and every file is down loaded. Afterwards everything is working, I am able to do my PP and save everything. Its just a pain to have to delete that message for 250 separate files! Thanks for your help and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours! I hope the problem is resolved next year with a new computer!

Here's hoping for a DPP fix.

When you say "download", what do you mean?

First, the images need to be edited in DPP. Do you get this message while editing the CR2 files?

Next, the images need to be converted from CR2 to another format. Do you get this message during the conversion?

When I read a number like 250, I sense something else rather than the edit and conversion of RAW images. Please clarify.

If this is actually a problem of getting the images from the camera to computer for then editing in DPPv4, try going to the Canon site and downloading the EOS Utility v2.x and use that tool for the transfer.
