When the Nikon D850 first came out, Nikon users celebrated. When DxOMark gave it a score of 100, Nikon users threw what looked to me, a Pentax user, like an unseemly street party. When a D850 user started a thread yesterday to complain about its noise at higher ISO values, I went back to DxOMark and was surprised to note that the Sony a7Riii was rated over a week ago, and also has a total score of 100, worse in some areas than the D850, but much better in noise. I missed their celebration here.

(1) Did I just plain miss it. If so, I'd be appreciative if someone could provide a link to it.

(2) Are Sony users just more modest

(3) I know there are Sony users here, so no one to celebrate cannot be the answer.

added:

The Sony, to my eyes, has better balanced scores. The Nikon was originally sold here as an all-around camera, but it now ranks 25th in the DxoMark's "sports" score, which measures high ISO performance, while the Sony is no lower than 5th in any category.

Which Nikon users are you referring to?
Myself and none of the Nikon users I know celebrated, or threw a street party or anything like it at all.
Maybe it's just your imagination running away with you.

Sony fans are still hung over from the A9 celebrations. Sony users have become blase about great new upgrades.

So Dan De Lion didn't post that the D850 is the "perfect professional all round camera" and MT Shooter didn't make a big deal over its being the "first" camera scoring 100 by DxOMark {actually the Pentax scored higher sooner, but they "withdrew" the listing until the D850 had been listed a while}

Right now I think Sony is better known for it's P&S and Bridge cameras. That is changing, but change takes time. The RX10m4 was probably bigger news for Sony owners as the focus should be a big improvement over m3.

The above is a SWAG!

Well, if two people saying something translates to you as being a celebration and a street party, what can I say? I guess it was a celebration and street party then.

Sony does not have the same number of traditional owners as Canon and Nikon. Its not that we are too shy, its just that ...why get into a shouting match when much of what Sony does is first on the market and then copied when Sony sells them the sensors and software. !!!!
Some manufacturers simply increase the spec a bit at a time to ignite a feeding frenzy, whereas Sony just comes out with a totally new concept as soon as it works. It also tends to drop 'the old stuff' pretty fast too. It still supports it but no longer makes them.
Keep watching - you may be a convert...

I like my wife’s Sony a6000 my son loves his Sony a6500 I really LOVE my NIKON D500. For me it’s how simple the D500 operates and easy to program but I would not kick a Sony a7m3 out of bed

Like others here I could not care less. As a matter of fact I do not care either if any of my bodies make it to the first or last place. All that is irrelevant to me.
When the D800 was introduced by Nikon with its 36 Mp. lots of photographers got rid off what they had and bought the D800. Other models in the D800 series have been introduced ever since with more and more pixels.
I went with a D610 with 24 Mp. and they are more than enough for my needs. With my other bodies 17 Mp. is the higher pixels count they have and all of them have served me well.
I am not a pixel peeper. Perhaps that helps.
