I bought this used for $150.00. I was skeptical that it would meet my expectations. A few tripod mounted shots proved that I made a pretty good purchase. The lens was made specifically for Sony alpha cameras. If you have one of these, I'd like to hear of, and see the results that you have gotten.

I really like the characteristic bokeh reflex lenses produce. Looks like you got a good one.

I do have the Minolta 500mm AF Reflex lens - very nice !

I assume the Sigma is manual focus ....Lots of noise in this shot....

I get into a bit of noise at ISO 1600 with my A57. I did consider the auto focusing Minolta or Sony 500 but I have a masochistic streak and decided on the manual that gave me 100mm more magnification. here is another shot at about 20 feet from subject.

I have this same lens from many years back. Finding subjects that were a good fit has not always been easy, but when I have, I liked the results. Have fun with it.

That is a very nice shot. I could have bought the Sony/Minolta 500mm AF but liked the fact that the Sigma doubled the reach of my 70-300 Sony apo G and the fact that manual focus would be a test of my abilities. I think that the optical qualities of our lenses are very similar. I'm looking forward to taking some shots in full sun with the 600 as we have had an overcast for the past two days.
