Just got my D850 (thrilled) and am having trouble parsing the menus to set up back button focus. Has anyone in UHH done it?

The manual is your best friend. Use that, you will learn much more than asking questions and waiting for answers...

Dear Rongnongno, I've been through the manual indexes and there is not a single mention of it. I will keep reading, but so far, no joy.

Go to Custom setting menu - F Controls - F1 Custom Control Assignment - AF-ON (set to on and hit Menu) done
page 268 in manual

Go to custom menu. Choose autofocus, a8, then AF only.

Thanks, howlynn! I knew it had to be pretty straight forward. But just couldn't parse the language of the manual.

I don't usually buy books that are supposed to teach me how to use my camera. I bought this one to show support for the author who supports the members here with his helpful posts and free videos.

Turns out the book was well worth the price and I highly recommend it, even though I don't agree with everything in it 100%.

What a pathetic statement if that were really true.

My D810 has a AF-on button on the back of the camera, this is a BBF, your D850 should have the same button.

Rongnongo is right! Read the manual. Pages 99, 109, 261, 268!

A very simple, short video. I followed it and it was 100% correct.
Enjoy your D 850. I'm loving mine.
