Seeing is going to get bad here... A side post

We have this natural phenominuminom called The Santa Ana winds that crop up here when the weather is right.
Referred to as "The Devil Winds", often wildfires blow up and race along in the strong winds.
Such is what's hitting here today.
The biggest one started at 8 PM, and by 11 PM (3 hours later!) it was at 10,000 acres, and 10 miles of front.
One Daughter couldn't get to her work, and the DIL is sent home do to a new fire near where she works.
About 300-350,000 folks evacuated now. (Yeah, get out and sit in your car in a traffic jam...)
Woo-Hoo! Ridin the storm out!Looks like we're dreaming of a white (ash) Christmas. 60 MPH winds here today. Makes a fire just explode.
This stuff does get serious Fast! My brother and SIL live in Santa Rosa and he lost everything but the clothes on his back and his car and wallet. They will be foreever rebuilding.
Be very carefull out there!!
I WILL NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT MY OVERCAST DRIZZLE!

TV is saying most, or all, the fires have zero containment.
I guess 'Brush Fire Season' got here all at once.

It does indeed! Lots of oxygen being provided in 60 MPH winds...
Be safe!

Winds up again today, 16 MPH sustained, 30 MPH gusts.
4 Super Scoopers tripping water over our house all day. (We're in the route.) Kind of cool watching those big aircraft working.
But it was apparent the winds were causing the pilots to work hard to control them.
They've extended the Red Flag wind warnings through Saturday now.
Yeah, it's bad.
I sure hope you're not in any danger from the fire! Stay safe!

Yeah, it's bad.
Looks like you have a new alternate target for photographing with the big aircraft doing their job.
Let's hope they contain it soon.

We're good here.
But very aware that that could change real fast.
But the winds are dieing off somewhat.
What I'm wondering about is when the weather changes back, and all that smoke comes back over the land.
Blach!
Meanwhile... back to imaging the Universe.

Good to hear from you Jim!
They were flying over just that one day, so far.
It seems like they keep grounding the fire fighting aircraft due to the gusting winds.
Better that, than to lose any and the pilots.
No word yet about how these monsters are getting started.
Except for a small one started when sparks from a blown over big rig started a small fire that the firefighters were able to control and put out.
One story cracked me up. This guy stayed to 'defend his house'.
When a 60 foot high wall of flames roared over the hillside by his house, and the fire crews evacuated, he miraculously got some brains and left with them.
The news tonight said the smoke out over the Ocean was beginning to come back on shore by San Francisco.
Might get yukkie up by your way when it comes around.
What a mess!
