This pano is a composite of 6 images (24mm, f/11, SS 1/640, ISO 1000) I first tried to stitch them back when they were taken in 2014 but PS pano said the images weren't compatible. I set them aside and moved on. This morning I tried again using MS's ICE. It never batted an eye! So, just for grins I tried them again in PS and got the same result as 3 years ago.

I have that with Lightroom Classic CC. LR does panos for me. I wonder if PS and LR are using the same "under the hood" pieces. That sounds like a fun homework project for today!

More than likely I'll continue to use ACR's pano tool just because it is convenient. I open my raw files in ACR so ICE would be additional steps and, it doesn't export in dng. However, when things aren't working they way I expect ICE will be the next thing I try.

And if you are doing this test, I noticed that Lightroom and Photoshop gave different perspectives on the same group of images merged to Pano. I found that the Lightroom version seemed to have a "straighter" ground where the Photoshop stitching seemed to create a bowl effect. (I think if I remember correctly, Photoshop had some options that Lightroom did not and I may have made the wrong perspective choice in Photoshop.)
Happy testing
Rich that is a great pano of the trains. I have had the same problem as you about the files not matching. I will have to try some other software and see what happens. Thanks for the great photo and tip.
