Many thanks, Bob and Karin. Ellen just reminded me that they need to be placed outside and also need a little pruning...Oh, I almost forgot---about a week ago we happened to be in the sunroom near the Hibiscus plants and on the windowsill was a Black Swallowtail slowly moving its wings open and closed like they do after just emerging from their chrysalis.(last summer the Hibiscus plants were next to several pots of Parsley used as host plants by the Black Swallowtails) It was almost dark and very cold so just left it alone and in checking several hours later it was on the tile floor against the baseboard with its wings folded together not moving, so though it probably would not survive the night, but just in case placed a vase of jonquils on the floor beside it to provide nectar. We had planned to check on it the next morning but we became involved in other things and failed to do so and then about midday saw it flying against the sunroom window trying to get outside so cracked the window open and away it went!
