Took these last evening. Two photos - one of the clouds and one of the moon. Layered and merged with the moon on top layer. D7100 with Sigma 50-500mm lens.

Fine work! I admire especially your getting both the Moon and the clouds, and telling us how you did it. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool! You did a fine job in PP. We were cloudy here in Houston, so no moon.

Indeed, too many on UHH just present a snapshot of the quality my grandmother might get with a primitive camera... and those who do good work too often say nothing of how they achieved such results. Add my "thanks for sharing" to the list.

Thanks for viewing my post. I am not hiding the fact that I achieved the image through post processing. I've always found honesty to be best. Have a GREAT DAY!

Thanks for viewing my image and your kind comment. I am sorry to hear that you all missed the moon because of clouds. It was really big here in Apache Junction, AZ. A few clouds but no show stopper. Have a GREAT DAY!

Thanks for viewing and your great comment. I agree with you. My image was all done in Paintshop Pro X9 Ultimate with a little help from NIK Color Efex Pro as a plug-in. Nothing spectacular, just a few tweaks mainly to match the saturation, brightness and color between the two photos used. Have a GREAT DAY!

Clouds and moon beautiful! However, the moon would never be in front of the clouds.

You are very observant. It is very easy to see that the image was done on the computer. I suppose that with a lot of effort and time the clouds could have been put in from of the moon. I might have a go at that someday. I had a little trouble making that decision myself and that is why I provided the explanation on how I post processed the two photos. One would have had a major problem trying to capture the clouds and that large clear image of the moon in one photo. I agree that the moon would never be in front of the clouds. However, the clouds did present a reasonable background for the moon. The moon is the main object of the image, not the clouds. Thanks for viewing my photo and your comment. I am not offended. Have a GREAT DAY!
