When trying to open Lightroom, after entering user name and password and clicking continue, it goes to a blank white window. The command bar still says Safari. Shouldn't it say Lightroom and take me to an opening screen? Obviously, I'm a rookie user.

When you open Lightroom, why do you need a user name and password; also why is your browser involved. Once you have installed Lightroom, you should be to just click on it whenever you want to open it. I presume from your comment about Safari that you are using a Mac, so maybe there are issues that are differen than my PC, so maybe the Mac users can give you better advise.

Thanks. I opened it from within Finder which is a little like the Windows file manager.

I think you need to provide a little more info - Lightroom standalone, Lightroom Classic CC or Lightroom CC? If CC or Classic CC, is the Adobe CC App running and connected to Adobe?

Same scenario on a Mac - click on the icon either in launch pad or in the "dock" should launch the application.

When asking for help in a situation like this, it is important for people attempting to help to know:

1. Whether you are using a PC or a Mac (in this case from what you've said I know it's a Mac)

2. Are you initially setting up the software? or have you used it on your machine without a problem before?

3. Have you recently upgraded your operating system and are now having the problem?

4. Is the Lightroom version a stand-a-lone version or is it a subscription version? Have you recently upgraded Lightroom?

These are all important considerations in troubleshooting and figuring out a solution to your problem.

I see while I was forming my reply someone else came up with pretty much the same questions.

Lightroom is an application, you log into your Adobe Creative Cloud account in the Adobe CC app, which will take you to the Adobe.com verification site to enter your UID and Password. After that, you're good to go for about 90 days on your system.

So I be thinking that you are logged out of your Creative Cloud account? Go to the Adobe website and log in there, then open Lightroom.

Instead of launching thru Finder... go to your launchpad and find the Lightroom Icon... a click should launch it...

I have the subscription version. I think I have to open that in Safari.

The subscription version is the CC version, so you can download and install Lightroom Classic CC onto your computer, along with Bridge and Photoshop, and it runs locally from your hard drive.

If you go to your launchpad, you should be able to find the Lightroom Classic CC or CC icon on one of the desktop screens - click it.

If you did not download it, then you need to do that from the Adobe Site.

All of your Adobe applications will be downloaded to your computer and you will use them on your computer, the cloud component of the program is storage and space used to access applications across platforms. Open the Adobe user area over the internet with your name and password and the Adobe cloud icon should show up at the top of your computer, in the area where you access time, sound, etc. Click on the icon and a list of options will show up, Lightroom classic being one of them. Download the app, following the instructions, then access the app by clicking on the icon on your computer (as someone else has already shown you). If the app is not on your dock you will need to place it there; go to applications and look for the LR icon.
